Junior High Youth Learning Circle (Grades 7-9)

Theme: The Spirit in Me Greets the Spirit in You

September 9th, 16th, 23rd, 30th at 10:00 am

Share the essence of who you are through a special object, picture or piece of music that you bring from home.   Take this learning and extend it to create a space in the lower level that reflects the spirit in you as individuals and as a group.

 

Theme: Peer Pressure and the Internet

October and November

 

Join us to explore uses of the internet that create peer pressure amongst teens.  Share your learning with the congregation through the creation of a video.

 

Theme: Supporting Youth from Camp Fyrefly

December

 

On December 2nd, the Youth of Southminster-Steinhauer will have an opportunity to hear about the origins of Camp Fyrefly and listen to the stories of gay and lesbian youth. December 9th, 16th and 23rd, our youth will find ways to support the youth of Camp Fyrefly as their annual Advent Project.

CHILDREN’S AND YOUTH MUSIC AND DRAMA PROGRAM

 

This will be a great opportunity to participate in the cast for the musical “Oh Jonah!”   

Come sing and act out the story of the reluctant prophet.  Practice starts Thursday, September 20th.   

 The children will gather at 5:00 pm and the youth will join the children at 5:30 pm.   

 The musical will be offered in church on Sunday, November 25th, at 10:00 am.

The Spirit of Rhythm - African Hand Drums in Worship and Joy
Workshop leader Diane Scott currently teaches and plays djembe drums in a treatment setting for persons recovering from addictions, and she also performs in a women's percussion ensemble called Heart Rhythms.

... stands for Wondering Holy Youth. This E-letter is published four times a year by two college-aged youth from Camrose and Oyen, who began after the two attended the United Church’s General Council. They intend to connect youth across the country with articles and guest writers. WHY is all about the wondering. You can subscribe by e-mailing  wonderingyouth@gmail.com.  

Future Quest Youth Program (August 2008)

A summer experience for youth aged 14-17 from the United Church of Canada and youth from other Christian denominations to explore community, theology, and leadership. Engage your body, mind, and spirit in an educational community that affirms, challenges, and inspires your life. Will you be one of the Future Quest youth? Youth Heartbeats

We welcome Deb and Patrick Pennyfeather back from their travels in July to Korea! Dawn Pennyfeather spent the summer working at the Penhold Cadet Camp.  The Rosborough’s had a great week at Naramata, and we congratulate Monica on her new role at Revelations Bookstore.  Kaylen Salter-Dimma spent August traveling Europe with his grandparents.
